Upon My Lap the World is at Play began after acquiring my first laptop computer and immediate access to the international community. This series represents my early awareness of the disturbing contrast created by distanced viewing of disturbing images and events from the intimate and safe places within my home and personal life. I placed images of myself, my son, my cat, my dog, and objects from my home with specific images from the internet. The internet images include images from recent and current events from the period this series was created. 'My Lap' in the title, uses the double meaning of lap, also referring to my wireless laptop. 

I had entered the new era of the worldwide web and began to experience the collapse of distance from events in far away places that were now assimilated into my daily life, changing and influencing my thinking and perspectives.
